With the recent and successful release of the BBC's Blue Planet 2 I thought it would be fitting to write an artist inspiration piece on Sir David Attenborough and his conservation work that has influenced my work so far.
The final message of the series pleads with today's society to consider the outcomes that pollution has upon the environment. The episode is dedicated to the innocence of the marine animals and the everlasting effects that plastic pollution in particular can have upon an entire species as well as the ocean itself. With the heartbreak over the young Albatrosses loss of life due to plastic pollution it is evident to see how Attenborough cares for the animals and the severity of the cause. Even below within the images it is clear to see the compassion Attenborough has for all animals and this is something I would like to portray through my work. If enough emotion is sparked through art, media and other such platforms then positive action can be put in place to counteract the problem that is ocean pollution.
